About Covered Abroad
The specialist for the visa moment
Covered Abroad helps American and British families moving to Europe get a health-insurance certificate that will not get their visa refused — and real cover for the years before public healthcare applies.
Why this site exists
The single hardest part of a long-stay visa is the insurance certificate. The rules are published, but buried; visa centers contradict each other; and the wrong policy — usually travel insurance — is a common reason applications are refused. We read the official requirement, quote it with its source and the date we checked it, and arrange a policy that meets it.
Our editorial policy
- Every requirement we state is sourced to an official page (France-Visas, service-public.fr, Italian consulate guidance, or the equivalent) and carries a “Last verified” date.
- Money and requirements pages are re-checked on a regular cadence; rule changes are logged on our Updates stream as they happen.
- We never publish premiums or prices — the product is quote-based by design.
- We publish no testimonials or statistics we cannot attribute and source. Where we quote our underwriter’s figures, we say they are the underwriter’s.
How we make money
We’re an insurance introducer. If you request a quote, our partner’s sales team contacts you, and we earn a commission if you buy. This never changes the requirements we report. The published rule is the published rule, whether or not you buy through us.

Tell us your destination, visa, and who’s moving. Our team reviews it against the current requirement and calls you with a quote — no obligation.
Before you request a quote: cover is worldwide but excludes treatment in the United States, and pre-existing conditions are not covered — including conditions you did not know about. We say this up front so a quote is worth your time.
