We are an introducer, not an insurer
Covered Abroad is an independent insurance introducer. We help you understand the published visa and insurance requirements for our eight European destination countries (France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Malta, Germany, and Austria) and connect you with an underwriting partner who can provide cover. We do not underwrite, issue, or service policies ourselves.
How we are paid
If you request a quote and buy a policy through our partner, we earn a commission. It costs you no more than going direct. Being paid this way never changes the requirements we report — the published rule is the published rule whether or not you buy through us.
Who underwrites the cover
Policies are underwritten by Regency Assurance, an international insurer regulated by the FSRC (Nevis), serving clients in more than 120 countries. Where we quote the underwriter’s figures — for example that 99% of claims paid — we state that they are the underwriter’s figures, quoted as published.
The limits of our cover
- Cover is worldwide but excludes treatment in the United States.
- Pre-existing conditions are excluded, including conditions you did not know about.
- Age limits apply to new applicants (International Health to age 70; Essential Health to age 80).
- Essential Health covers accident and emergency care in state hospitals only — it is not full private cover.
- Cover is governed solely by the insurer’s policy wording; nothing we say extends it.
No advice, no guarantees
Information on this site is general and is not personal financial, insurance, legal, or medical advice. We do not guarantee that any visa application will be approved — consulates keep discretion, and requirements can change. We show the published rule and its source so you can verify it yourself.
Reviews and testimonials
We publish no testimonials or satisfaction statistics we cannot attribute and source. Any reviews of our underwriting partner that we reference are clearly attributed as the partner’s.
