The rule in writing

Every requirement we state is quoted from the official source and stamped with the date we last checked it. No anecdotes.

Built for the visa moment

We arrange certificates that state what consulates actually check: cover type, territory, dates, and no disqualifying deductible.

Humans, not a portal

Tell us your situation and a person reviews it against the current rule, then calls you with a quote. Cover can start the same day, with no medical exam.

What actually passes

Questions people ask first

Do I need private health insurance for a French long-stay visa?

Yes. France requires private health insurance for a VLS-TS long-stay visa — travel insurance and Schengen policies are not accepted. The policy must cover your full visa period with no deductible. We show you the published rule on the France requirements page.

Will my travel or Schengen insurance work for a long-stay visa?

No. Travel and Schengen policies are for short stays and are routinely refused for long-stay visa applications in France and Italy. You need a private health plan structured for residence. Our policy checker shows you why in about two minutes.

What must the insurance certificate say?

Consulates look for the cover type (private health, not travel), the territory, the policy dates covering your full stay, and — for France — no deductible. Italy year-one applications commonly require zero deductible or co-pay. Exact wording matters; we cover it on each country page.

Which countries do you cover?

France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Malta, Germany, and Austria. Spain runs through a partner-confirmed Spain-compliant arrangement, since its rule requires an insurer authorized to operate in Spain. Cover is worldwide but excludes US treatment, and pre-existing conditions are not covered.
