Your rights on a holiday
The portal explains that on statutory holidays, employees are entitled to an uninterrupted rest of at least 24 hours, starting between midnight and 6am on the holiday, and pay continues as if it were a working day.
Austria also has the personal holiday (persönlicher Feiertag): every employee can take one day of annual leave on a day that matters to them, without needing the employer's agreement, as long as they give at least three months' notice. That's how members of the Protestant and Old Catholic churches, for whom Good Friday used to be a holiday, can still take it off.
