The informe de vida laboral: Spain's proof of your working life
By Covered Abroad Research Desk · Last verified July 2026
What the report contains
The import@ss portal's own description of its Vida laboral e informes section: access to reports on your working life, your alta and baja situations in the Seguridad Social, your contribution bases, and whether you are current on payment — with the stated purpose that these documents help you manage procedures and accredit your situations. The vida laboral is the master record: every employment episode against your social security number, dated to the day.

Getting it: import@ss and the guided service
The portal is the route: import@ss serves the reports directly, with a servicio guiado for picking the right document when you're unsure, and identification through the usual Spanish stack — Cl@ve, SMS to your registered number, or digital certificate. Free, immediate, downloadable — the days of requesting it by post survive as a fallback, not the norm.

60-second check
Not sure the policy you have meets your destination's written rule? Run it through the policy check now, before you build the rest of the file around it.
Check my policyWhere movers need it
The vida laboral shows up across Spanish life: mortgage and rental dossiers, arraigo and residence files, benefit applications, and — decades later — the pension arithmetic where Spain's contribution-year thresholds decide your retirement age. For mixed careers, it's Spain's contribution evidence in the EU aggregation machinery. Check it after every job change: alta/baja errors are easiest to fix while the employer still answers email.
