Christmas markets in Austria

Austria's Christmas markets bring Advent to all nine provinces. The Austrian tourist board lists the Vienna Christmas Market on Rathausplatz from 13 November to 26 December 2026, Schönbrunn Palace from 6 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, and Salzburg's Christkindlmarkt on Domplatz and Residenzplatz from 19 November 2026 to 1 January 2027.

Vienna

According to the Austrian National Tourist Office, Vienna's Christkindlmarkt sits on the Rathausplatz, in front of the illuminated City Hall, with countless stalls, a tree covered in hearts, a children's programme, an ice rink and a trail of nativity scenes. Its 2026 dates and others include:

Vienna Christmas Market, Rathausplatz — 13 November to 26 December 2026

Salzburg and Innsbruck

The tourist board describes the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt on Domplatz and Residenzplatz, with traditional huts in the heart of the Baroque old town, and the Innsbruck old-town market, where the tower trumpeters play at the Golden Roof. 2026 dates include:

Salzburg Christkindlmarkt, Dom- and Residenzplatz — 19 November 2026 to 1 January 2027

Enjoying Advent in Austria
