Hospitals in Ubud: what is actually within reach

What the consular list names around Ubud
The maintained list worth using is the one the US Consular Agency in Bali keeps. In and around Ubud it names, among others:
- Ari Canti Hospital — Jl. Raya Mas No. 69, Ubud, Gianyar
- Bali International Medical Centre (BIMC) Ubud — Jl. Raya Sanggingan No. 21, Ubud
- Kenak Medika Hospital Ubud — Jl. Raya Mas, Ubud, Gianyar
- Ganesha Hospital — Jalan Raya Celuk, Sukawati, Gianyar
- Kasih Ibu General Hospital — Jl. Pantai Saba, Saba, Gianyar
The list is curated rather than ranked, and it states its own limits — see below.

The geography is the part that matters in an emergency
Three of the facilities above are in Gianyar regency rather than Ubud town — Sukawati and Saba are closer to the coast than to the rice terraces.
That is not a criticism of them. It is a planning point: an address containing "Gianyar" can mean a materially different journey time from central Ubud, and Ubud's roads are narrow and frequently congested. Work out now which facility you would actually reach, rather than at the point of needing it.
For anything complex the answer is likely to be neither — the tertiary referral capacity is in Denpasar, and for the most serious cases the pathway leads offshore entirely.
60-second check

The consular list is explicit that it is not a recommendation: the agency "assumes no responsibility for their professional competence or integrity; however, the names are selected with care", and "the order in which they are listed has no significance".
Elsewhere on the same list the wording is firmer still — inclusion "is in no way an endorsement by the Department of State or the U.S. Embassy".
We are not going to rank them either. What we will say is that the practical question is rarely which hospital is best in the abstract — it is which one your insurer settles with directly.

What we can and cannot help with
To be clear about scope: we do not recommend individual hospitals, and nothing here is medical advice. We are an insurance introducer for international health and life cover for people.
What we can do is the cover behind the visit — in particular whether your insurer settles directly with the facility you end up at. Pre-existing conditions are excluded and cover is governed by the Regency Assurance policy wording.
