Visiting Mount Bromo: entrance fees and online booking

By Covered Abroad Research Desk · Last verified July 2026

Entry to the Mount Bromo area costs foreign visitors Rp 255,000 per person per day, weekdays and holidays alike, according to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Tickets must be bought online through the park's official booking site — there are no tickets on the spot — and visits are capped by a daily quota.

Entrance fees

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) adjusted its fees from 30 October 2024 under Government Regulation 36 of 2024. For the Mount Bromo area, per person per day:

  • Foreign visitors: Rp 255,000, weekdays and holidays
  • Domestic visitors: Rp 54,000 on weekdays, Rp 79,000 on holidays

The fee includes park entry and visitor insurance — Rp 5,000 of the foreign visitor fee is the insurance element.

Vehicles pay separately per day: Rp 5,000 for a motorbike, Rp 10,000 for a car, Rp 2,000 for a bicycle and Rp 1,500 for a horse. Visitors or vehicles without a ticket face a fine of five times the normal fee.

Booking online, and the daily quota

Since 1 December 2019, the park has set a daily quota of 2,752 visitors and requires tickets to be booked online — there's no offline or on-the-spot purchase. The park says this helps manage traffic at the viewpoints, keeps visits comfortable and protects the savanna.

Booking is only through the park's official site, bookingbromo.bromotenggersemeru.org:

  1. choose your visit dates and the site you're visiting
  2. fill in the booking form, including details of the group leader and members
  3. pay online — the park says ticket payments go directly to the state treasury

Planning your trip

Because of the quota, book early for weekends and holidays. The park also closes on certain days — in 2025, for example, all tourist visits were closed to honour Nyepi and Idul Fitri — so check the park's announcements before you travel.

If you'd like to camp, the nearby Ranu Regulo lake area has its own fees (Rp 205,000 to visit or Rp 210,000 to camp per day for foreign visitors), and those tickets can be bought on site.

For anyone living in Java, a Bromo trip is one of the island's great adventures.
